Hawai’i

Hey All,

A few weeks back, I was lucky enough to head to the beautiful islands of Hawai’i! I spent a few days in Oahu and stayed down in Waikiki. As some of you have gathered, I love food, beautiful nature and people. This trip did not disappoint in any way. I didn’t have a bad meal, even a bad bite of food; it’s essentially what I ate was what I dream of. Amazing food cultures mashed together to create some delicious and remarkable hybrids. Whether it be shave ice (japanese-hawaiian), meat jun (korean-hawaiian), and spam musubi (japanese-american), these all found their way into my belly!

Beyond the amazing food, I saw beautiful scenery. Sunshine, palm trees and a slight saltiness in the air make for an intoxicating experience. In the dead of a Pacific Northwest winter it was life changing! We hiked the Lanikai Pillbox trail and got plenty of beach time to warm up a bit. Up to this point I had managed to never go to a tropical beach, or even a destination that was like the climate on the islands. I can’t wait to go back!

I visited with Miko and some of my family while there. Also we managed to link up with a local to show us around North Shore, see more family who live in Honolulu. Needless to say we ate well, drank well and stayed in great company.

Without further ado, some photos!

Mini-Session: Foster High

Hey all,

With the help of some amazing people I was able to set up a mini-session down at Foster High school in Tukwila. The session was created through the help of my friend Melissa who is a teacher down there. She mentioned that a lot of 1st generational students and the community as a whole does not have easy access to Photography. My ears perked up and couldn’t wait to start working with some of these students to give them a great picture that they love and could use professionally.

I scouted the campus a few days before and found an awesome sky bridge that had plenty of natural light. Both of these students who came were awesome models and made for great photos! ┬áHalimo and Kevin are excellent students who I was extremely excited to meet and work with. I asked them a few questions before their photo shoot, and I’ve included their responses with a few shots of each student!

Thanks!

Kevin

Loryn: Senior Photos

Hey all,

Happy new year! 2016 was an awesome year and I hope to continue building more clients and taking more awesome photos. I’d like to start out with one of the last shoots I did from 2016.

Loryn is a student down at Foster High and we ended up connecting after the Mini-Session I did down at Foster High. It was excellent to work with her and I’m excited to see what amazing direction she heads in!

Thanks for the awesome work Loryn!

UW Beland Shoot

Hey all!

I have finally been able to fulfill a few orders for customers of my recently launched site and here is one of the first shoots that has been done!

The family reached out and wanted to capture all of the University of Washington Alumni and future students. We were also shown a bench dedicated Mr. Ken Sato who was one of the founding members of the first non-white fraternity on the UW campus. The Japanese Students Club was renamed the Synkoa house and was opened to all groups excluded from the traditional Greek Life. It ran from 1922-1961 and helped to open the doors for diversity in the overwhelmingly white community.

Please help celebrate the legacy of Mr. Sato and leave some love!
